At the beginning of November 2018, Benary opened its new production site in Chile in the presence of the main shareholder Klaudia Benary-Redlefsen. Benary has been producing flower seeds in Chile for decades.
Hijuelas offers the perfect climate for the production of some of its most important crops.
Hijuelas is located in the middle of a popular horticultural region; about 100 km (62.1 miles) north of Santiago and about 1.5 hours drive from Santiago airport.
New production facilities enable Benary to improve its collaboration with partner companies, to produce critical cultures on its own and to carry out various post-harvest processes independently, according to a press release.
Furthermore, the new facility has been built to strict environmental standards. The site comprises approximately five hectares (12.4 acres) of land with three hectares (7.4) of production area and 10,000 m2 of greenhouse area. Approx. 1,100 m2 are used for seed cleaning, the warehouse, dispatch and office space. Both F1 hybrids and OP seeds are produced in Hijuelas.
