A trailing pansy from seed, Freefall comes in five colors and will bloom during the winter. Thanks to its low-spreading habit, it can be used in late summer production because it’s less prone to stretching. With medium-sized flowers, Freefall offers day-length neutral flowering and will keep its color during the winter. Freefall will reach a height of 6 to 8 inches and has a spread of 12 to 15 inches.

Production:
- Plug medium should be well-drained, peat-based and disease-free. EC should be 0.75 mmhos and pH between 5.5 and 5.8.
- Use course vermiculite to cover seed.
- Keep media moist with a temperature of 65 to 70°F during the first stage of germination (four to five days). Light level should be less than 1500 f.c. until cotyledons are open.
- Improve rooting and control floppiness during the second stage of germination by drying down the covering slightly. Media temperature should remain the same as the first stage. Increase light levels to 1500-2000 f.c. when cotyledons open.
- Let media dry further between irrigations during the third germination stage and keep its temperature between 65 and 68°F. Increase light to around 3000 f.c. with shading in hot weather. Keep EC at 1-1.5 mmhos. Fertilize every other irrigation with 100-150 ppm N from 15-5-15, 17-5-17 or 13-2-13.
- Drop media temperature to 60-62°F and keep it drier. Increase light levels to 3000-4000 f.c. Continue fertilizing, but check that pH is less than 6.5 and avoid high NH4 fertilizers.
- When growing onto finish, use a peat-based, well-drained and disease-free mix.
- Keep EC at less than 1.5 and pH between 5.5 and 5.8.
- Until roots have developed, maintain media temperature of 63-65°F. Then drop the temperature to 55-60°F.
- Keep light levels between 3000 and 4000 f.c., using shade if lights are higher to maintain cooler temperatures.
- Fertilize once a week using the same recommendations during the germination stage.
