In the past five weeks my feet have been in eight different states and one foreign country as I’ve traveled through 10 different airports. They’ve also been chilled in both the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans as I’ve traveled from coast to coast. Yes, it’s been quite the busy month here at Greenhouse Management as we traversed the coast of California for the 2012 Spring Trials and then headed south for the NGMA annual meeting and Syngenta’s Demo Days. Then I escaped for a short vacation to recover from it all. But even though it’s been a busy time for us here, we also know your feet have been plenty busy as well carrying you around your greenhouses during the busiest time of the year. Knowing how stressed you are from the long hours, it begs one question – how’s business and how are you? We hope business is treating you well this spring, and while I know you’re up to your eyeballs in fulfilling orders these days, hopefully you can take a few minutes to relax by reading our May issue. You’ll learn a lot about how to better market your business by improving your website. One feature will tell you everything you need to know about search engine optimization (SEO). Another will talk about better ways to market your greenhouse using your website, and our case study this month talks to one grower who overhauled his site and how it helped his business improve. One aspect of the magazine I’m particularly excited about is the addition of a new monthly column – “Business Minds” – which will feature business management insights and tips from some great minds outside our industry. And before you head back to the grind, be sure to check out our wrap-up from California Spring Trials. See what the GIE Media editors liked best out of all the new and exciting products we saw during our 500-plus mile road trip extravaganza. As always, be sure to drop us a line and let us know what you like or don’t like. We love hearing from you, and we look forward to talking more once the busy season is through.
