Geum ‘Dark and Stormy’ PPAF
‘Dark and Stormy’ emerges dark reddish orange fading to a clear orange color with both colors showing at the same time. ‘Dark and Stormy’ starts blooming in late April or May and continues around three to four weeks or more. The short clumping plants reach around 10 inches tall and wide with the stems reaching at least 18 inches tall. The plants prefer a moist to well-drained soil in full sun. The foliage is semievergreen. These hybrid plants are longer lived than the older chiloense varieties of Geum. Their hardiness is Zone 4-9. These plants do their growing at the cool times of the season, so they can be planted in late winter, early spring or early fall.

In addition to its prolific blooming capability, ‘BloomStruck’ is the hardiest variety in the collection, showing excellent disease resistance, heat tolerance and cold winter hardiness; it does well in Minnesota’s Zone 4 temperatures and doesn’t wilt on Georgia’s hot summer days.
