Katy Moss Warner, president emeritus of the American Horticultural Society, will give a keynote presentation called "Why Color?" at the 2012 Northeast Greenhouse Conference and Expo. In her presentation, she will share her experience of bringing color to the forefront in the gardens of Walt Disney World in Florida and offer insight on the importance of color in municipal landscapes from her travels judging cities with America in Bloom.
From 1976 to 2000, Moss Warner was the director of Disney’s horticulture and environmental initiatives at the Walt Disney World Resort. With a team of nearly 700, she was responsible for the landscapes of four theme parks, 15 resort properties and more than 70 miles of roads on the 30,000-acre property.
Everris announced David Gunter as a new product manager operating out of the Dublin, Ohio, headquarters. Gunter’s primary responsibilities include supporting the Americas ornamental horticulture marketing manager in the execution of category marketing plans, development of new markets, as well as overall portfolio and project management.
Gunter’s most recent position was portfolio manager of The Scotts Mircale-Gro Co. Gunter has been awarded 10 U.S. patents for new product designs and has nearly 25 years of product and project management experience.
Mark Seguin assumed the role of global ornamental marketing manager of Sakata’s vegetative portfolio on April. He was previously Sakata’s vegetative product manager for North America. Seguin will provide global and regional strategic leadership in product development and supply chain, and is responsible for vegetative marketing plans within the U.S. market.
Ron Cramer assumed the role of senior global ornamentals advisor for Sakata. Cramer was previously the global marketing manager and led the development of Sakata’s vegetative ornamentals business in both Europe and NAFTA.
Ron Garofalo joined Sakata’s sales and marketing team as the senior sales manager for Flower Seeds — NAFTA. Garofalo will direct and lead all sales and product management activities for the flower seed assortment. He previously served as the vice president of sales at Goldsmith Seeds for 14 years.
Brad Smith also joined Sakata as the retail category manager for Ornamentals — NAFTA. Smith will lead ornamentals sales and marketing activities directed toward the retail channel and will work closely with growers serving that channel. Smith has 15 years of experience in sales.
Don Hanson rejoined OHP as national accounts manager. Hanson will work to further optimize the OHP business with key national partners and will also have territory sales responsibilities in South Texas. Hanson has more than 20 years of horticultural experience.
Ryan Lindstedt also joined OHP as market project manager. Lindstedt will assume responsibilities for several activities, including the transition of technologies into the OHP product line. He’ll also work with the field team to help identify market opportunities. He previously worked for X-Calibur Plant Health Co.
