Algaecide, fungicide
PERpose Plus from A Growing Alternative Inc. is a hydrogen-peroxide-based product. This broad spectrum algaecide and fungicide is OMRI listed and can be used in certified organic production. Its primary mode of action is oxidation of the outer cell membrane of vegetative endospores, yeast and mold spores, fungi and algae.

This zero re-entry period product can be used on pre- and postharvest plant crops in greenhouses, nurseries, garden centers, field production and commercial turf. It can also be used on non-porous hard surfaces, including tools, equipment, walkways and storage buildings. It is available in 5-, 30- and 55-gallon drums and 275-gallon totes. READER SERVICE #48

Plant growth regulator app
OHP Inc. has introduced a PGR Calculator app, its first iPhone application, designed for Apple iPhone, iTouch or iPad users. The free app is available through the iTunes Application Store.

PGR Calculator allows the user to look up current growth regulator rates in parts per million for spray or drench applications. The user enters the desired dose and size (length and width) of the application area or the number of pots for a drench treatment. The app calculates the amount of solution and product needed. Growing mixes
Oldcastle Lawn & Garden has introduced a new line of Jolly Gardener Pro-Line soilless growing mixes for the commercial greenhouse and nursery growers. There are four standard mixes, two for greenhouse and two for nursery. Pro-Line 21G is a medium-textured bark-based greenhouse mix made with processed pine bark fines, Canadian sphagnum peat and horticultural perlite and includes a starter fertilizer charge and wetting agent. Pro-Line 22G is a lightweight, peat-based greenhouse mix made with Canadian sphagnum peat, processed pine bark fines and horticultural perlite. It includes a starter charge and wetting agent.
