Per a press release, AmericanHort is launching its Finished Plant Conference for “finishing growers of bedding and potted flowering plants, indoor and outdoor perennials, and fast-turn flowering shrubs.” The event is scheduled for Oct. 11-13 in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
The event costs $495 for premium AmericanHort members, $595 for member and $795 for non-members.
The event will cover best practices for finished plants in education sessions, opportunities to network with suppliers at a trade show and hands-on learning from a greenhouse tour and a perennial workshop. Both the tour ($175) and workshop ($150) come at an additional cost.
"With the recent boom in consumer demand for horticultural products, education for finished plant growers has never been more needed," said Ken Fisher, President and CEO of AmericanHort, "We are proud to offer the industry this opportunity to learn, network, and grow with like-minded green industry professionals at the Finished Plant Conference."
Educational sessions will include quality control, labor reduction strategies, overwintering and more. The tour includes stops at Walters Gardens, Spring Meadow Nursery, Henry Mast Greenhouse, and Garden Crossings — all located in western Michigan. Walters Gardens will also host the perennial workshop. The workshop is designed for beginning and intermediate grower and will cover weed control, perennial PGRs and application methods, handling of bare-root material and more.
