Costa Farms has announced its acquisition of Battlefield Farms, "a renowned grower of over 700 varieties of annuals and perennials in Rapidan, Virginia." This "strategic acquisition," the release states, "enhances Costa Farms' market share and significantly extends its geographical presence, expanding its overall influence and footprint in the horticultural industry."
"We are eager to welcome the Battlefield team into our Costa Farms family," says Joche Smith, CEO of Costa Farms. "Battlefield's reputation, knowledge, and esteemed team complement our mission Team, Solutions, and Growth. We are thrilled to integrate the Battlefield team's experience and legacy into our operations, ensuring we continue to lead the market with unparalleled offerings."
Battlefield Farms has a reputation for its expertise in cultivating annuals and perennials, "leveraging advanced growing techniques, and a solid commitment to sustainable farming." The company has relationships with leading national retailers and has 45 acres of greenhouse production space and 20 ares of outdoor production.
"This is a proud moment for us at Battlefield," said Battlefield owner Bobby Van Hoven. "We've always been committed to horticultural excellence, and we believe Costa Farms' extensive reach and resources will enable more top-quality plants to reach even more homes and gardens. This is a win-win for the industry and, most importantly, for gardeners everywhere."
This is Costa's first acquisition since the company acquired DeLeon Greenhouses in 2020.
"This acquisition is a pivotal step in our continuous pursuit of excellence," said Joche Smith Jr., Executive Vice President at Costa Farms. "The addition of Battlefield's state-of-the-art facilities and experience creates even more opportunity to meet and exceed our customers' expectations across more regions."
