Intrinsic Perennial Gardens welcomes Lisa Hilgenberg as the Intrinsic Introductions Genetics and Supply new plant trial manager.
Hilgenberg joins Brent Horvath’s breeding team after a 15-year career at the Chicago Botanic Garden, most recently as the head horticulturist of the Regenstein Fruit & Vegetable Garden. She also spent two years working with perennials in the botanic garden's Farwell Landscape Garden.
A native Minnesotan, Hilgenberg has a B.S. in geology with a minor in French, along with professional horticulture certifications. A speaker, garden writer and instructor at the School of the Chicago Botanic Garden, she previously worked in real estate in Chicago.
In her new role, Hilgenberg will help facilitate supply for existing licensees, provide focus for the breeding program and manage the trial plant distribution and communications. She's also happy to answer any questions about growing tomatoes.
