National Green Centre to feature native plant education

Three sessions will be devoted to natives, and an interactive native garden will be on site at the show

The National Green Centre, set for Jan. 8-9, 2012, in Kansas City, is partnering with the well-respected Grow Native! program and with exhibiting companies to offer three education sessions specifically on natives. In addition there will be an interactive native garden on the trade show floor, and several natives will be showcased in "The Sweet Melissa Fashion Show: the hottest new plants in horticulture."

National Green Centre exhibitors Applied Ecological Services, Bohn’s Farm and Greenhouses, National Nursery Products – St. Louis, and Forrest Keeling Nursery will create the native garden on the trade show floor.  They are also sponsoring three education sessions on native plants:

• The Best Natives for the Urban Landscape, Bill Ruppert, Bohn’s Farm and Greenhouses and National Nursery Products – St. Louis

• Properly Selecting Native Plants for Use in Storm Water BMP’s, Elliott Duemler, Applied Ecological Services

• The Future is Now, Lynn Hinkle, Goin’ Green LLC; session in cooperation with Forrest Keeling Nursery

In addition, watch for native plants in the Sweet Melissa Fashion Show, including Applied Ecological Services’ three “new” plant entries: Diarrhena obovata, Carex praegracilis, and Carex eburnean.

The National Green Centre is presented by the Western Nursery & Landscape Association and features a trade show, world-class education and many networking opportunities as well as "The Sweet Melissa Fashion Show: the hottest new plants in horticulture."
