Cleveland, OH – Making the promise to ease a burden and provide peace of mind by caring for the yards and lawns of deployed military personnel is what the GreenCare for Troops program stands for. Standing behind that mission are thousands of professional lawn and landscape volunteers across the country and Presenting Sponsor Nufarm.
Nufarm and Project EverGreen announce the company’s commitment of $150,000 to help expand and diversify a program that assists thousands of military families.
Based on Nufarm’s support in 2019, the GreenCare for Troops program realized a double-digit increase in active volunteers, a 70 percent match rate among military families and an immediate volunteer match for three-quarters of all newly registered families. These statistics proved the value of and incredible passion for the program, affirming Nufarm’s continued financial support.
“Nufarm is proud to be the lead sponsor of GreenCare for Troops and the good that it encompasses," Sean Casey, Nufarm Americas VP of Turf & Ornamental says. "Military families face many challenges when their loved ones are deployed. GreenCare for Troops works nationwide to connect them with complimentary lawn care services. It’s a great way for lawn and landscape professionals to give back and help military families relieve stress by coming home to a worry-free green yard. We encourage everyone to get involved by donating, volunteering or spreading the word."
The contribution will be used to enhance and expand the national program that is managed by non-profit Project EverGreen. This will include increased outreach for volunteer recruitment and communications to families, volunteers and the media. Adding promotional and logistical resources required to grow the GreenCare for Troops database and serve more military families is also a priority.
“Nufarm’s incredible ongoing overall support to this incredibly worthwhile program is making a significant difference in the lives of military families and professional lawn and landscape contractor volunteers across the country,” Cindy Code, Project EverGreen executive director says. “This ardent support has helped this nationwide to build upon its success and, ultimately, bring safe and healthy yards and landscapes to families in need of relief and peace in a green setting.”
The GreenCare for Troops initiative, which celebrated its 13th year in 2019, has seen more than 11,000 military families, and more than 6,000 green industry professionals, register to receive or provide these services since the program was launched in 2006.
