The Perennial Plant Association (PPA) has announced via press release that it will follow a new format for its 2021 national symposium. PPA will now be presenting a hybrid national symposium that will showcase world-renowned speakers on a virtual platform to allow perennial plant professionals and enthusiasts to safely connect and learn with colleagues from around the country and world.
The virtual national symposium education will be paired with short, small, outdoor, regional PPA pop-up gatherings held at locations around the U.S. These PPA pop-ups will be designed to provide the opportunity to connect and network with the PPA family while allowing the flexibility to adapt to local, state and regional guidelines and recommendations for safe gatherings.
The virtual national symposium will take place July 27-29, 2021 and dates for the PPA Pop-ups will be announced in the coming months. This hybrid national symposium replaces the 2021 national symposium that was planned to be in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. The PPA Board of Directors unanimously approved that the in-person National Symposium in Lancaster be cancelled for 2021. The health and safety of the PPA family is most important and we believe it is unlikely that our traditional, large, multi-day event can be held as safely as we would like in 2021.
PPA is committed to returning to Lancaster for the 2022 National Symposium, which will take place Aug. 1-5, 2022 at the Lancaster Marriott At Penn Square. The 2023 National Symposium will be in Niagara Falls, Ontario July 24-28, 2023 at the Sheraton On The Falls.
This early decision allows PPA’s staff and volunteer leaders to focus all time and energy on designing and executing the best possible Hybrid National Symposium. PPA extends its deep gratitude to our members, sponsors, volunteers, local partners and hotel vendors for everyone’s continued flexibility and support as it works toward a safe National Symposium in 2022.
