When a late snowfall wiped out part of Penn State University’s plant supply for its Demonstration Gardens, Pleasant View Gardens stepped in with a donation of Proven Winner plants. Penn State’s usual source of plants are local independent garden centers. A huge snowfall this past winter caused more than 10 of the greenhouses to collapse resulting in plant losses. Having recently faced their own natural disaster with a January fire, Pleasant View Gardens was eager to step in and help. “Penn State’s Gardens are a staple of Pennsylvania horticulture, and we weren’t about to let them go lacking for the year – they’re a great opportunity to draw consumers to our industry,” said Henry Huntington, president of Pleasant View Gardens.
