Following the new lease of a 4-acre greenhouse in coastal Carpinteria, California, Westerlay Orchids announces an expansion that will enable the company to increase production and explore exciting new varieties just in time for Mother’s Day.
Now, the company’s move to increase production initiates a planned expansion in national distribution from 3 million to 4 million plants by 2021.
Westerlay Orchids aims to “Inspire Your Home” by developing on-trend, forward-thinking designs coupled with innovative, buyer-beloved features - such as their latest SmartWick self-watering technology - that make home care a breeze. The 4-acre expansion will carry forward the company’s mission to maintain the most sophisticated facilities on the West Coast boasting the highest possible third-party certification benchmarks.
“We are thrilled to grow our operation and presence in the Carpinteria community, which has supported and sustained us from the beginning” explains third-generation Dutch cultivator and Westerlay Orchids president Toine Overgaag.
With a firm commitment to community-building and a solid reputation for supporting local causes, the company looks forward to continuing its outreach measures while doubling the production of 2-inch ‘Darling’ Phaelanopsis and allowing for the exploration of new varieties.
