Benary announces plans for CAST, garden visits for entire summer

In a press release, Benary has announced its plans for CAST 2021 and is kicking the annual showcase off early.

Beginning on April 1, the breeder began accepting visitors to its Watsonville, California, trial grounds during business hours. This will run through August 31.

Due to on-going COVID-19 protocols, all visitors are required to register for a visit by emailing CAST@benary.com. No walk-in appointments will be accepted. In Watsonville, Benary is showing its new varieties in an outdoor trial setting.

American Vanguard integrates OHP into AMVAC Environmental Products

American Vanguard Corporation and its subsidiary AMVAC Corporation announced today that they are bringing their OHP Inc. subsidiary into the AMVAC Environmental Products (“AEP”) family to create a unified non-crop business entity within AVD.

OHP, a provider of technology-based solutions for greenhouse and nursery production applications, was acquired by AMVAC in 2017.

“The integration of our dynamic specialty product businesses is part of the company’s long-term strategy to increase capacity, broaden product portfolios, and support AEP’s and OHP’s collaborative efforts ... ,” said Eric Wintemute, Chairman and CEO of American Vanguard.

PPA opens registration for 2021 Virtual National Symposium

The Perennial Plant Association will host a new format for its 2021 National Symposium. PPA will be presenting a Hybrid National Symposium that will showcase world-renowned speakers on an online platform at a Virtual National Symposium and pair this with smaller, outdoor regional PPA Pop-up events held at various locations around the U.S.

Registration is now open for the annual symposium, hosting this year as the PPA Virtual National Symposium from July 27 to July 29. A few of the topics being presented include the latest on trial reports, the native conundrum of supply and demand, foliage and texture, what does biodiversity really mean, and inspiration from public and private gardens.
