GREENSBORO, N.C., March 3, 2016 – The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has granted federal registration of Mainspring GNL insecticide from Syngenta. Featuring the active ingredient cyantraniliprole, Mainspring GNL provides broad-spectrum control of key pests, such as thrips, whiteflies, aphids, caterpillars, leafminers and leaf-feeding beetles, in greenhouses, nurseries and residential and commercial landscapes. State registrations are pending.
“Mainspring GNL is powered by a novel active ingredient in a unique chemistry class that creates a powerful resistance management tool,” said Gregg Wisniewski, insecticide brand manager for Syngenta. “When used as part of a preventive pest management program, it provides extended protection to save time and reduce labor costs with repeated applications.”
Mainspring GNL is among several ornamental plant protection products from Syngenta that can be used in both greenhouses and nurseries. It can be applied as a spray or drench and is compatible with many biological control agents to strengthen integrated crop management (ICM) programs. Additional features include:
- Four-hour REI (restricted-entry interval) reduces disruptions to work schedules
- Improved worker safety compared to alternatives with no special personal protective equipment required for early entry
- Systemic and translaminar activity that prevent pest populations from building to damaging levels
